Jill Carty is The Pawstry Chef.
She shares her home with an Alaskan Malamute, 3 indoor cats, and 1 feral cat that she feeds and cares for on her front porch (aka the Stray Cat Cafe) and ... oh yes - her husband Brian. (Those that know her well, know that her passion has always been for animals.)
Prior to baking dog biscuits she was a Technical Writer, creating on-line Help and user documentation, but was never really satisfied or felt fulfilled. Deciding that it was time for a change, she decided to follow a completely different path and wound up with clients who would rather have their ears rubbed around the water bowl than chat it up around the water cooler.
Jill's growing interest in canine well-being and alternative approaches to animal health led her to research commercial dog foods and treats. She eventually developed her own recipes for dog biscuits using simple methods and basic, natural ingredients. She observed her own dogs to see what scents excited them and added cinammon, ginger, cloves and orange to the biscuits. We like to say that Jill's biscuits are a "scentual experience".
The Pawstry Chef is a family run business - Jill created the recipes, bakes and packages the biscuits and generally runs the business. Although Brian runs the mouse and keyboard - graphic design and documentation is a joint effort.
We have been fortunate to be supported by some very talented people along the way:
